Detailed Job Role & Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Backend Engineer on the Software Supply Chain Security (SSCS) Add-On team, your primary focus will be creating tools that keep enterprise software safe from dependencies and malicious packages. You will be operating at the intersection of backend engineering, system integration, and cybersecurity.

• Build Backend Features: Develop clean, maintainable backend capabilities using Ruby on Rails and Go for package policy integration, dependency verification, and ingestion pipelines.
• Integrate Security Tools: Connect new supply chain features into existing GitLab scanning engines so security findings show up directly in merge request reports.
• Maintain High Test Coverage: Write thorough automated unit and integration test suites using RSpec and related frameworks to avoid regressions and keep releases dependable.
• Code Reviews & Quality: Participate actively in reviewing peer merge requests, providing constructive feedback, and keeping code quality standards high across the team.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Collaborate with nearby teams like Dependency Firewall and Malware Database to deliver synchronized product features.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed, clear internal and external documentation so colleagues across time zones can understand and build upon your features smoothly.
