Detailed Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Global Quality (GQ) Package Reliability Process Engineer, your main focus will be establishing product reliability standards and standardizing manufacturing processes. You will work closely with hardware, operations, and qualification teams to ensure that semiconductor packages meet strict board-level reliability requirements imitating real-world customer usage.
Key daily responsibilities include:
- Package Reliability Process Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to enable New Product Introduction (NPI). Ensure hardware readiness for testing setups like Temperature Cycling, HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test), and HTS (High-Temperature Storage).
- Process Evaluation & Material Testing: Identify, investigate, and document any process deviations. Use systematic troubleshooting methods and risk assessments during qualification cycles.
- Methodology & DOE Development: Design experiments (DOE) to establish process capabilities (CpK) and identify factors that influence quality. Implement equipment process control techniques to improve overall yield.
- Industry Standards Compliance: Standardize testing procedures in agreement with global industry standards like JEDEC (Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council), rather than relying solely on internal specifications.
- Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Use structured 8D problem-solving methodologies to analyze failure modes, perform root cause analysis, and execute corrective action plans.
- AI & Automation Integration: Utilize AI tools and smart automation to drive operational efficiency and improve process reliability tracking.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following basic qualifications:
- Educational Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Eligible Batches: Fresh graduates as well as candidates with 1 to 2 years of industry experience are eligible to apply.
- Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of basic semiconductor processing, device physics, quality control, and electronic reliability concepts.
Key Skills & Technical Competencies
Here are the skills that will make your profile stand out during the evaluation process:
- Knowledge of reliability stress testing procedures (Temperature Cycling, HAST, HTS).
- Familiarity with standard quality tools like 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, and DOE (Design of Experiments).
- Understanding of microelectronic packaging and JEDEC industry guidelines.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret test data, yield numbers, and failure analysis reports.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to present findings across functional teams.
- High self-initiative, capability to work independently under tight deadlines, and willingness to travel when required.
Selection Process
While selection stages may vary, the standard Micron hiring process for engineering roles generally consists of the following steps:
- Online Application & Resume Screening: Shortlisting candidates based on academic performance, relevant course projects, and resume alignment.
- Technical Assessment / HR Screening: Initial phone call or online test evaluating basic engineering knowledge, device physics, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Technical Interviews: In-depth technical discussion focused on your major project work, semiconductor concepts, quality methodologies, and logical reasoning.
- Managerial & Culture Fit Interview: Discussion on real-world scenarios, teamwork ability, conflict resolution, and career aspirations.
- Job Offer: Final background verification and issuance of the official employment offer letter.
Tips to Prepare Your Resume
Micron explicitly encourages job seekers to use AI tools responsibly to refine their resumes. Make sure your resume clearly highlights your technical projects related to microelectronics, semiconductor devices, quality tools, or material characterization.
