Detailed Role Responsibilities
As a Quantitative Analyst within the New Product Development team, you will participate directly across all stages of index creation and strategy development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with research teams across equity, quantitative finance, and sustainability to generate ideas for new thematic and factor-based indexes.
- Handling the complete product development workflow, which includes ideation, index rule design, backtesting, dataset validation, and public launch.
- Building modern tools and automation scripts in Python, R, or SQL to run statistical portfolio construction, backtest asset allocations, and check data accuracy.
- Operationalizing index methodologies alongside production and IT teams so that strategies run smoothly on a daily basis.
- Publishing high-quality research papers, product factsheets, methodology documents, and presentation decks for institutional clients and research boards.
Eligibility Criteria & Skills Required
Morningstar is looking for candidates with a sharp quantitative mindset, solid technical capabilities, and a genuine interest in capital markets. Here is what you need to qualify:
1. Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative domain, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Finance.
- An MBA from a premier institute is a big plus.
- CFA charter holders or candidates who have cleared at least CFA Level II are highly preferred.
2. Technical & Domain Skills
- Programming Proficiency: Hands-on knowledge of Python, R, or MATLAB along with strong SQL skills to manipulate and query large market datasets.
