Cisco Hiring Software Engineer | Bangalore Job Opportunity
Are you eager to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies, distributed systems, and massive scale? Cisco, a global powerhouse in networking and cloud infrastructure, is actively looking for a talented Software Engineer to join its core Intersight development team in Bangalore. This is an incredible opportunity for software engineers with 2 or more years of experience who want to design high-performance cloud platforms and advance their careers with an industry leader.
Job Overview
About Cisco Systems & The Intersight Platform
Cisco has been at the forefront of digital networking and computing infrastructure for four decades. From manufacturing top-tier routers and switches to developing world-class cloud platforms, Cisco touches almost every corner of global business connectivity. In today’s AI-driven world, Cisco continues to lead with infrastructure solutions that ensure high security, low latency, and smooth operational control.
The team you will be joining builds Cisco Intersight, a cloud-based operations platform tailored for Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and modern data centers. Intersight harnesses intelligent telemetry, machine learning, and advanced analytics to help IT admins monitor, simplify, and automate infrastructure deployments across hybrid cloud environments. By working on Intersight, your code directly influences how enterprise data centers operate across the globe.
Role & Responsibilities: What You Will Do
As a Software Engineer on the Intersight team, you won’t just write boilerplate logic. You will solve real architectural challenges involving high availability, distributed consistency, and rapid scaling. Here is what your typical work week will look like:
- System Architecture and Coding: Design, write, and maintain clean, scalable services using languages such as GoLang, Java, or C/C++. You will take ownership of features from technical design through release.
- Cloud-Native Development: Build resilient SaaS microservices and deploy them across Docker containers orchestrated by Kubernetes.
- Cloud Platform Optimization: Work closely with AWS services to design robust cloud architectures capable of processing continuous data streams from data centers around the world.
- Performance Tuning: Identify bottlenecks, optimize database queries, minimize latency, and build intelligent telemetry pipelines.
- Code Quality and Collaboration: Conduct meaningful code reviews, write automated tests, and collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and site reliability engineers.
Eligibility Criteria
Before submitting your profile, make sure you align with the core requirements outlined by the Cisco engineering team:
- Degree: B.E. / B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or an equivalent technical stream.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably working on enterprise SaaS, backend systems, or cloud infrastructure.
- Foundational Knowledge: Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Data Structures, Algorithms, and System Design fundamentals.
Technical Skills & What Makes You Stand Out
Cisco operates at massive scale, so they value strong engineering fundamentals alongside modern cloud competencies. Here are the core skills that will help you ace the interviews:
- Proficiency in Core Languages: Hands-on expertise in backend programming using Go (GoLang), Java, or C/C++. GoLang is especially valuable for microservices and cloud management systems.
- Microservices & Containers: Thorough understanding of containerization concepts using Docker and orchestration through Kubernetes. Experience in writing modular, loosely coupled RESTful or gRPC APIs.
- Cloud Infrastructure (AWS): Practical knowledge of AWS compute, storage, and networking primitives (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPCs).
- Data Structures & Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to write optimized algorithms for search, caching, concurrency, and tree/graph processing.
- Communication & Ownership: Ability to work independently with high accountability, handle quick turnarounds, and communicate complex architectural decisions clearly.
Cisco Recruitment Process
While the exact rounds may vary slightly based on team scheduling, Cisco generally follows a structured, transparent evaluation path:
- Application Screening: The recruitment team evaluates your resume against the core requirements. Highlighting your work with Kubernetes, Go/Java, and cloud platforms helps you get shortlisted faster.
- Online Assessment / Initial Technical Screening: A focused round covering coding challenges (DSA), system design questions, and foundational concepts in OS, networking, and cloud services.
- Technical In-Depth Interviews: Typically 2 rounds focusing on live coding, system design problems (such as designing an automated monitoring agent or a rate limiter), and deep dives into your past projects.
- Managerial & Culture Fit Round: A conversation with an engineering manager to gauge your cultural fit, ownership mindset, and how you deal with ambiguity and delivery deadlines.
- HR Discussion & Offer Rollout: Discussion regarding compensation breakdown, perks, location details, and expected joining date.
