Detailed Role Description & Daily Responsibilities

As a Graduate Apprentice Trainee in the Trucks Technology & Industrial Division, you will be deeply involved in product design and manufacturing support. You will work closely with senior mechanical engineers and cross-functional teams to design high-quality components and multi-material assemblies used in commercial vehicles.

• Concept Creation: Develop innovative design concepts based on prerequisite criteria such as Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Feature (QDCF) guidelines.
• Conceptual Thinking: Generate creative engineering solutions considering all stakeholder requirements, assembly constraints, and durability expectations.
• Plastic & Sheet Metal Design: Understand manufacturing constraints for plastic and sheet metal components, including tooling, injection moulding, blow moulding, vacuum forming, press tools, blanking, and forming.
• Part Modeling & Assembly: Work on part modelling, surfacing, drawing creation, and detailing using advanced CAD software like CATIA V5 or Creo.
• Geometric Analysis: Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, conduct draft analysis, and set plastic part tolerances to ensure smooth production.
• Proto Manufacturing: Gain exposure to prototype manufacturing methods and secondary operations involved in plastic and sheet metal processing.

Eligibility Criteria

Volvo Group is looking for candidates who meet the following academic and technical eligibility criteria:

• Educational Background: Full-time B.E. or B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering from a recognized university.
• Eligible Graduation Batches: Freshers from 2023, 2024, or graduating in 2025/2026.
• Apprenticeship Scheme: Candidates must be eligible for enrollment under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS).
• Experience Level: Strictly freshers with zero to minimal experience who possess strong fundamentals in core mechanical engineering.
